Located in the largest valley of the Three Valleys, Les Menuires offers a great ski holiday for all. You have great access across one of the best French ski areas: the Three Valleys. You can ski the pistes of Val Thorens, Meribel and Courchevel easily from your base in Les Menuires. If you purchase a full area ski pass, you’ll find you have access to roughly 321 runs, 169 ski lifts and 2,100 snow machines. You are guaranteed a ski-filled, busy and snow-sure ski holiday.
If you aren’t interested in the hustle and bustle of staying in the busy Croisette, choose a smaller, Savoyard village for a more traditional atmosphere. Le Bettaix is a great choice. The beautiful village is ideally situated below the centre of Les Menuires and La Masse. If you choose your accommodation carefully, you’ll have views of the River Doron flowing through the village, from your window or balcony.
How do I get to the centre of Les Menuires?
In 2015, Le Bettaix upgraded their 2 person chair lift to a 4 person – which is great news! This new high speed chairlift takes you to the centre of the Les Menuires in about 5 minutes. For those of you that have stayed in Le Bettaix before, will remember the long queues in the morning as everyone rushed to get to ski school on time. You would often have to be the first there, or wait for the mad rush to calm down. You’ll be happy to know that this upgrade has minimised this, making mornings much easier for families and those wanting to make fresh tracks. At the end of a long day, the gentle blue run back into the village will be easy for beginners, and your tired legs!
Ski Hire in Le Bettiax
Another upgrade for Les Menuires: Le Bettaix, a new ski hire shop, Intersport. In the centre of the village, only 100 metres from the ski lift. You can hire:
- Ski or Board Boots
Any equipment you may need to kit you out for your ski holiday. You could even rent some cross country skis or snowshoes and try something different one day of your holiday.
Getting the Children to Les Menuires for Ski School
If you are heading on a ski holiday with the family and have children that need ski school then most of the local ski schools meet in la croisette. The short 5 minute ski lift will get you to ski school on time, where you can see the children off on their lessons and hit the slopes yourselves. ESF is the ski school I would recommend, with their English speaking teachers, your children will be experts on the slopes in no time.
Places to Eat and Drink in Le Bettaix
Unfortunately, the only bar in Le Bettaix no longer exists, but a short taxi ride will take you to the centre of Les Menuires, where you will find a wide range of choices to eat, drink and shop! If you stay in a catered chalet with us at Ski Amis, we will happily drop you to the centre for some drinks of an evening, but you need to make your own way back. After all, the chalet hosts need to be awake in the morning to cook your full English breakfast – and that will be needed after a night on the town.
Places to Stay
Ski Amis have 4 catered chalets to choose from in Le Bettaix, with a choice of our premium or standard service. They are located just a short walk from the new lift and have a lovely view of the River Doron. We are currently offering a great promotion for July too. Get 15% off all catered chalets in Les Menuires with our Summer Sizzler offer – check out our Ski Deals page for more information.
Don’t be put off by a catered chalet in Bettaix because it is a quieter village, lower than Les Menuires centre. Ski conditions were great in the 2017-18 season, so fingers crossed they will be the same next season! I skied all the way back into Bettaix in April! This village has beautiful surroundings, is peaceful, has great access to the slopes and truly has a Savoyard, traditional atmosphere.
